OK OK I give up. I just can’t keep a secret. My costume I’m doing for Akon is Hild from Ah My Goddess. At first I was just keeping it secret because I wasn’t sure I was going to get to do it. Then I thought I’d try to keep it secret just to see if I could. Well I can’t. Blah.
I’ve been wanting to go as her for a while, but held off as her costume is similar to Urd’s purple dress…then last month I came across a site with a buttload of pics of her and was seized by a mad frenzy to make it for Akon. One can’t say no to mad frenzies…
Here’s my wig progress so far. It’s made of both my Urd and Amalthea wigs sewn together, and I bought a cheapo white/grey wig to use to do the “fan” of hair at the top. The hat/headband thing is nearly finished, I need to sew it onto the wigs.
The basic dark blue dress is nearly finished. I really like the fabric I got for it. I ended up with satin again (exact same as Urd’s – I thought it would be good to use the exact same fabric for both, just diff. colours), and it’s a perfect colour. It looks black in some light but in highlights you can tell it’s blue. Mom was trying to iron part of the dress last night and burnt a hole in it *_* luckily it was in one of the shouder pieces that is extra. I’m making the necklace part of the dress to help keep the whole thing up, so we left extra at the shoulders of the dress for that. I got my shoes, just need to alter them.
Really, all that’s left besides finishing the shoes and wig is doing all the jewelry pieces, and doing the pink and yellow bits (with the rings, which I need to go buy today).
I’ll be counting how many people know who I am at Akon. I doubt it’ll be many…!
